Financial Aid

  • Please sign and send back one copy of your financial aid award letter. You should have received two copies in your financial aid package that was mailed to you from the Office of Financial Aid.

  • Email finaid@centenary.edu with information about your scholarship.

Housing & Move-In

  • Contact your admission counselor or text 318.386.3311 to have it reset.

  • You will receive an email to your Centenary email address with your housing/roommate assignments the first week of July.

  • Yes, we encourage you to select your roommate! You can list who you want to room with on your Housing and Travel Preferences Form.

  • Email housing@centenary.edu with any housing/roommate preference updates by the last day of the last SOAR session.

  • Yes, you can room together if your Paris courses are assigned to the same residence hall.

  • We encourage you to move into your dorm and attend orientation before the August term course begins. If you are not traveling to Paris, you will not be allowed to stay on campus before the fall semester begins.

  • Yes! All students can bring their cars to campus. New students can apply for their parking pass starting on July 1.

Soar & Orientation

  • SOAR stands for Summer Orientation and Registration and the purpose is to build a relationship with Centenary through engagement, belonging, purpose, and commitment.

  • Check-in will begin in the Magale Library at 12:30 pm.

  • Plan to bring comfortable clothes for two days, overnight toiletries, twin XL bedding, Picture ID (State Driver’s License, State Photo ID, or Passport). If traveling to Paris, your passport or proof of passport application is required.

  • Parents are encouraged to come to SOAR, there will parent sessions throughout the event.

Centenary in Paris

  • The Paris Course will begin on Monday, August 5. Students leave for Paris on Sunday, August 11 and return on Saturday, August 17. Students taking a 4-credit hour class will have class until Wednesday, August 21. Students taking a 2-credit hour class will end class when they return from Paris.

  • Most students will enroll in a 4-credit hour class. Students who have Centenary commitments, such as choir camp or pre-season for football, volleyball, or soccer, will enroll in a 2-credit hour class.

  • The enrollment deposit must be paid by May 1 to guarantee a spot for Centenary in Paris. Students must complete their Housing and Travel Preferences Form once they get their log in info to secure their class and apply for a passport before their SOAR session in June.

  • The only direct cost for the student is their passport. The passport application fee is $130, and the execution fee is $35. Students will also need to pay for their passport picture and a $60 expedition fee if they don’t apply by the deadline. Students are encouraged to bring some spending money.

Academics

  • Students will meet with an Academic Advisor to register for classes during SOAR.

  • Request an official transcript to be sent to Centenary and our registrar's office will do a credit evaluation. Final AP scores can be sent to Centenary upon course completion. A list of AP courses we accept can be found here.

  • At SOAR, language placement exams for French and Spanish will be offered on the first day. Each test includes a listening section and a written multiple-choice section. Non-native speaking students have the opportunity to earn 12 hours of foreign language credits and native speaking students have the opportunity to test out of the first two years of the language. Foreign language credits are required of all students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) at Centenary. Students who need to sign up for French or Spanish placement exams should fill out the placement exam request form here.

  • Students entering Centenary without math placement scores (ACT or SAT) may need to submit scores or take the Centenary placement exam for academic advising available during SOAR. You can sign up on the SOAR registration form.
